Congratulations to the fifteen St. Gerald’s athletes who competed in this years Connacht Schools Athletics (CSAA) competitions which were held on Wednesday the 19th of May in Athlone IT. The students included Matthew Ruane, Michael Hall, Kenneth Feeney, Eamon Regan, Aaron Wooton, Michael Conway, Oisin O Malley, David Cronnolly, Fergal Durkan, Damien Togher, Patrick Bell, David Bell, Gareth Heverin, Jack Lawlor and Conor Helbert.
Five athletes have booked their place into the All- Ireland Finals which are taking place on June 5th in Tullamore. These athletes and their events include the following: David Bell-800m, Patrick Bell- race walk, Aaron Wooton- Shot Putt, Michael Conway- Discus, Eamon Regan, Discus and Hammer. Congratulations to the athletes on their Connacht titles and best of luck in the All- Irelands.

St Gerald's College Annual Achievements night took place Thursday last 20 May. Achievements night is an end of year celebration to mark all achievements by student's in the college in the course of the year. Achievements on the sporting and academic field are celebrated as well asother noteworth achievement. Congratualtions to all award winner for 2010. Mark Heverin's Pedal to Peaks |
|
A past student of St Gerald's College Mark Heverin will clim to the highest point in each of the 32 Counties and cycle 1900Km between them for the Irish Cancer Society. This all begins on May 28th. St Gerald’s College welcomed back two past pupils on Friday last. Tommy O’Hora and John Murray, Leaving Cert 2003, returned to play a gig with their band “New Sunset Hotel”. This was to coincide with the band launching their debut single ‘The Bitter End’ The senior music classes really enjoyed the gig and all of us here in St Gerald’s College wish the lads the very best with their venture. Congratulations to all participants in sports day 2010. The damp start to the day did not curb the enthusiasm of all athletes involved in the day. The sun slowly appeared as the day progressed with everyone enjoying the novelty events and track events of the day. The day was finished off with the class relays and Tug of war. Where class rivalry came to the fore. A good was had by all. Thanks must be given to Mr Mc Cabe and Mr Forde for organising the days events. St Gerald's College annual celebration of St John Baptist De La Salle will take place this Friday the 14th of May - De La Salle Day. There will be mass held in the church at 12:00 to celebrate. Parents and Guardians are all welcome to join in the celebrations on the day. |

Congrats to St. Gerald’s Athletes! |
|
Congratulations to all thirty- two St. Gerald’s Athletes who took part in the Regional Athletics Track and Field events on Wednesday the 28th of April which were held in Athlone IT.
Nineteen of these athletes made it through to the Connacht finals which take place on the 19thof May.. The events ranged from the javelin, discuss, hammer and shot to the sprints, middle distance and steeplechase.
The senior and intermediate relay teams put up a great fight to also make it through to the Connachts.
Well done to all involved.

Ross Munnelly visited St Gerald's College on Friday last. He gave the Leaving Cert and a number of Fifth Year students a talk on prospective course options at DCU. He met with our Senior Connacht Winning Team of 2010. |
