St Gerald’s teams in table tennis competition

Players from across Connacht turned out for the Secondary Schools Table Tennis Competition held recently in Breaffy House Sports Arena. 

Two teams from St. Gerald’s took part in the U-15 category in what was a very exciting day for table tennis in the West of Ireland.  There were some fine performances from players on both teams.  St. Gerald’s ‘A’ team were in outstanding form and after beating St. Gerald’s ‘B’ team in the semi-final took on the experienced St. Louis of Kiltimagh in a thrilling match which was decided by a doubles game played by Mark Melynchuck and Mark Dervan. 

The ‘B’ team finished in a very respectable third place after beating the Bish ‘A’ team from Galway city.  The ‘A’ team will now go forward to represent Connacht in the all-Irelands in Dublin next month.
